Robert Porter (1917-tbc)
Robert Porter
,
son of Margaret Whiteford Kerr Porter (1896-1984),
was born in 1917, and was Margaret's oldest son. Robert moved away from Renfrew as a young man and eventually lost
contact with his family. Aside from a few letters to Mary and John Hannan which suggested he was experiencing difficulties,
nothing else is known of his later life.
A potential match could however be the gentlemen named Robert Porter who was also born in 1917 and died in Keighley, West Yorkshire in the summer of 1983.
Robert was remembered as a wilful young man who, when employed as a bus driver, apparently chose to leave the packed bus in situ rather
than comply with the Inspector's request to wear his jacket on a sweltering day.
