Robert Porter (1888-1931)

Robert Porter , son of Robert Porter (Circa 1855-Post 1931) and Margaret Jane Kerr Porter (Circa 1855-Pre 1931), was born in 1888, presumed to be in Ireland. Margaret was born a Kerr and is believed to be the sister of James Kerr. Little is currently known regarding Robert's parents aside from the fact that they married in Ireland on the 24th Jnauary 1877. By the time of Robert's untimely death, his mother had passed away but his father was apparently, still alive and living in Ireland.

At the census of 1911, Robert was listed as lodging with his relations the Kerr family. He later married his cousin Margaret Kerr Mary Kerr Porter on 28th December 1917.

Robert who was an iron driller, who died at the relatively young age of 42 in 1931. The circumstances of Robert's death echoed an earlier Kerr who died in 1888 - namely that he was found drowned in the River Cart on 16th May 1931 after being last seen alive on 25th April 1931.
