John Hannan (1889-1947)

John Hannan , son of Michael Hannan (1866-1951) and Annie Anderson Hannan (1865-1912) was born at Bonhill in July 1889. The birth certificate notes that Michael and Annie were married in December 1885 at Bonhill.

John married Isabella Algie Baptiste (1892-1983) on 4th April 1919 at Yoker. and they went on to have a single son John Anderson Hannan (1920-1996). At this point, John lived at Random Street in Alexandria with Isabella living at Rhona Cottage in Bell Street Renfrew. A Thomas Hannan and Agnes Baptiste witnessed the marriage.

John appears to have worked in a variery of jobs including a sewing machine factory worker in 1919 and retiring as a baths attendant in Renfrew, presumably at the Edwardian Renfrew Victory Baths.

John was to succumb aged 57 years, to the extremely harsh winter of 1947, passing away from acute bronchitis in March 1947. His last address was 30 Paisley Road, Renfrew.
