Jemima Young Baptiste (1860-1945)

Jemima Young Baptiste was born in 1860 to Archibald Young and Agnes Young.

Jemima married Charles Tobias Baptiste (1851-1918) when aged 19 on the 8th October 1879 in Govan. Charles and Jemima were living at 12 Whitefield Road (close to the Ranger football ground) in Govan at the time. The marriage certificate noted that Archibald Young who had been a Flour Miller, had already deceased and that Jemima's mother has since remarried to become Agnes Ann Knight. The ceremony was witnessed by a Mary Fish and Francis Young - presumably a relative of Jemima.

Her occupation was detailed as a Housekeeper and she had 10 children with Charles. Charles was somewhat older than Jemima and consequently she was to outlive her husband by 27 years. She passed away on 18th February 1945 with her final address listed as 1 Glebe Street in Renfrew.
