James Kerr

son of Innes Kerr (tbc) and Sarah McCormick Kerr (tbc)
was born in 1874 in Ireland.
James married Mary McKelvie Kerr
20th November 1896 at 83 High Street Renfrew at the age of 22 and together they had 11 children.
Their 8 daughters all survived
into adulthood and married whereas the 3 sons Matthew, Enos and James all died while young.
At the time of the 1901 Census, the family were living at 118 High Street Renfrew. Margaret Whiteford (Mary's mother)
was also noted as living with the family.
James worked as an iron driller, possibly at Babcock in Renfrew.
He was however to die at the age of 48 after a year period of illness from liver cirrhosis on the 2nd July 1922.
The certificate also records that the Informant was his brother-in-law Robert McKelvie - Mary's brother.
Robert McKelvie was in fact born to Matthew McKelvie (Mary's father) and Agnes Shannon McKelvie on the 30th October 1886.
It was also noted that Matthew McKelvie and Agnes Shannon had married on the 31st July 1875 in Ballymena, County Antrim in Ireland.
