Christina 'Jeanie' Hunter Brodie (1897-1935)

Christina 'Jeanie' Hunter , daughter of Hugh Hunter (1873-tbc) and Jessie Durkin Hunter (1874-tbc), was born on the 21st February 1897 at 43 Calside Paisley.

Christina is the great grandmother of the site author Kevin Hart through his father's mother.

Jeanie's birth certificate noted that her parents were not married and that paternity was found by decree of the Court' in July 1897. Hugh and Jessie were in fact to marry on the 7th June 1898 at Paisley Trinity Church. By this time, Hugh and Jessie were living together at 6 Gauze Street in Paisley.

Jeanie and David Brodie (1896-1944) had a daughter Agnes Hunter who was born on the 20th July 1915. At this point, echoing the circumstances of Jeanie's parenta, Jeanie and David were not married or living together. This event was however soon to follow on the 12th January 1916 at the St David's Church in Dundee. David's profession was noted as a Contractor's Carter - someone employed to transport goods in a horse drawn vehicle, with Jeanie being employed as a Spinner. David had been living at 6 Temple Lane, Dundee.

Jeanie was to die at the premature age of 37 from Cancer on the 30th September 1935 whilst living at 45 High Street in Paisley. The Informant was their daughter Agnes. David was noted as a Fruit Salesman at this time.

David himself also died at the relatively young age of 47 years on the 4th November 1944 - succumbing to acute pneumonia whilst living in Perth. His brother Alexander who was living at 40 Union Street in Dundee was the Informant. The Death Certificate also identifies that David had married another Jeanie - Jeanie McGuinness.
