Betty Walker Kerr (1913-1974)

Betty Kerr , daughter of James Kerr (1874-1922) and Mary McKelvie Kerr (1875-1940) was born on the 5th of January 1913. in 1913 at Renfrew.

She married James Dryan Templeton who was a motor mechanic in 1944. Betty was the 11th and last child to be born to James and Mary.

Betty was the recorded witness, as Elizabeth Kerr, at her older sister Grace's marriage to William Cecil Hoey on 2nd April 1943. The registration document also records Betty as using the middle name 'Walker'. With no immediate Walker family members evident, this name appears to have been passed down from Betty's great-great grandmother, a Janet Walker Whiteford, although clearly, this connection could be a coincidence. The presumed association is depicted in the Family Tree section of this site.

Details regarding Betty's sad demise in a road accident at Inchinnan aged 61 are being researched. Family recollections are that Betty was sadly knocked over and killed in Inchinnan Renfrew and we know that Betty's severe head injuries noted on her death certificate are consistent with a road accident on the 12th January 1974.
