Agnes Ann Baptiste (1883-1968)

Agnes Ann Baptiste , daughter of Charles Tobias Baptiste (1851-1918) and Jemima Young Baptiste (1860-1945) was born on the 6th January 1883 in Eaglesham Street Govan.

Eaglesham Street was an old Glasgow Street originally named after the village in Renfrewshire of this name, where the paternal ancestors of the 'Plantation' estate owner had been engaged in cotton-spinning. Eaglesham street and Plantation area where many of this site's individuals lived in the late 19th century was redeveloped in the 1960-70's.

Little is currently known regarding Agnes's life apart from that she was employed in what presumably was Govan's cotton mill. Agnes passed away in 1968 in Renfrew.
